What is Servant Leadership?
The servant-leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The best test is: do those served grow as persons: do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? And, what is the effect on the least privileged in society; will they benefit, or, at least, not be further deprived? (Greenleaf, 1977/2002, p. 27)
Servant Leader Principles
Based on the work of Robert Greenleaf, most agree these are the 10 key principles of a Servant Leader:
Listening
Empathy
Healing
Awareness
Persuasion
Conceptualization
Foresight
Stewardship
Commitment to Growth
Building Community

Parenting, Relationships and Work-Life
The Servant Leadership style goes against the grain of what we have traditionally understood leadership to be. Power Leadership has been the example and expectation in the workplace, as often at home as well.

But all around the world, leaders are beginning to understand that power leadership is less effective and less productive as a whole. Younger generations are demanding to be empowered and craving encouragement and older generations are ready for change. Servant Leaders create environments that allow people to thrive.
But, let's take it a step further. Bringing Servant Leader Values such as listening, self-awareness, and compassion (empathy), into our interactions with our significant relationships, our workplace, and our community is powerful and transformative!

LEADING LIKE JESUS- A SERVANT LEADER RETREAT
Servant Leaders are not only found in business, they are also found in every area of our life. We call this Life-Role Leadership.

The principles remain the same. As Spiritual people, and Christian specifically, we are called to live our lives in service and care for one another. While this retreat shows Jesus and the Saints as the example of this way of life, - the philosophy can be found in nearly all religions and types of spirituality. Service, which is love in action, is a foundational value that is seeded in human nature. We are happy to develop a retreat that speaks to your spiritual experience.
